Choosing a watch repairer is about more than the price
It is about whether you trust the person holding your watch. Here is what we do to earn that.
← Back to HomeSix things we do differently
These are not policies — they are simply how we prefer to work.
Written summary before work starts
For full service and overhaul work, we prepare a written note of what we found and what we propose. You receive it before we pick up a tool.
Published, fixed pricing
Standard service costs are stated clearly. We do not add charges after the fact. Any change to the agreed scope is discussed with you first.
Specialist across movement types
Quartz, automatic, and hand-wound movements each handled by a technician experienced in that type. We do not assign unfamiliar work to the nearest available person.
No rushing on heritage pieces
Older mechanical watches and family keepsakes are not put through a standard timetable. They take the time they need.
Water resistance testing included
Watches with a water resistance rating are tested after service — not assumed to be fine. Seal condition is verified before the case is returned to you.
Updates throughout longer jobs
For overhaul work, we keep you informed at each stage. If something unexpected appears, we contact you before continuing.
Sixteen years of watchwork in Phuket
Rung Watchworks opened in 2009. The lead technician had spent years prior in Chiang Mai learning movement servicing before moving to Phuket. The workshop has grown steadily since, adding specialists in quartz and in vintage Swiss calibres.
This is not a service added onto a jewellery counter. It is the only thing we do.
- Three technicians, each focused on a specific movement type
- Experience across Swiss, Japanese, and Thai-market watches
- Over 2,000 services completed since opening
- Timing machine testing for mechanical watch regulation
A clear sequence from drop-off to collection
Every watch follows the same steps: inspection on arrival, written note of findings, agreed scope, service work, testing, and collection. Nothing is skipped and nothing is done without your knowledge.
For overhaul work, the parts kept from a movement are stored in labelled trays throughout. You can ask to see them.
- Documented condition recorded at intake
- Written summary shared before work begins on major jobs
- Each service signed off by the responsible technician
- Post-service check before every return
Straightforward communication, no pressure
We describe what we find in plain terms. If a watch needs a simple battery and nothing more, we say that. If there are concerns worth noting, we explain them clearly and leave the decision to you.
There is no upselling. We respond to messages within one working day.
- English and Thai spoken at the workshop
- Responses to enquiries within one working day
- Comfortable waiting area for shorter jobs
- Post can be arranged for return within Thailand
Honest pricing with no hidden additions
Three service tiers: Daily Watch Service at ฿1,400, Full Service and Accuracy Check at ฿4,200, Legacy Overhaul starting at ฿9,400. Each price reflects the work involved. You are not paying for a brand name or a showroom.
- Published prices confirmed at intake
- No charge for the initial inspection
- Any change to scope agreed before proceeding
- Payment accepted in Thai Baht

What makes Rung Watchworks distinctive
A few things that do not appear elsewhere in the same combination.
Parts sourced with care for heritage pieces
For older movements, we take time to find appropriate parts — including compatible NOS (new old stock) components where possible — rather than fitting whatever is closest to hand.
Practical for visitors to Phuket
We can return watches by post within Thailand for clients whose trip has ended. Standard services are often ready within a short stay. We adapt where we can.
A receipt for every service
You receive a clear receipt noting the work done, parts used, and the technician responsible. Useful if a question arises later.
Honest about what is worth repairing
If a watch would cost more to service than it is worth to you, we say so plainly. We would rather you trust us than feel pressured into a job that does not make sense.
